I've tried to believe in the justice system for the longest time, but this latest story ruins everything.
My sister got robbed two weekends ago. I found the story out a few days ago. My sister and her boyfriend were at the mall when her bag got stolen. No thanks to the security guards, my sister's boyfriend apprehended the thief after running from exit to exit.
To cut the long story short, the thief was brought to the police station. Wonder of wonders, a whole pile of red tape faced them. The thief was detained. They said that charges had to be officially filed for the thief to be permanently put in prison. Here's the catch, they had to file a court case.
A court case would require precious time, filing charge fees, and attorney's fees. With all that hassle, who would want to file charges? Doesn't the law dictate that for someone to be thrown in prison, all you need is evidence of the act and the proper charges and that's it?
I feel bad that the justice system has so many loop holes. That is why no one ever bothers to follow the law, it's so easy to side-step everything. I'm extremely disappointed.
