Okay, so, the trip was set, everything was planned out... the room was booked... The plan? Edil and I were to go up first and wait for Rocky to come up. Being the last minute packer that I was, I re-arranged my room and cleaned it a little bit before packing. I packed clothes good enough for almost a week. Anyway, the Baguio trip went as follows:
Day One: The Arrival
We left Manila midnight of the 27th and arrived in Baguio around 4:30am. The trip was fast and painless. Funny thing, Edil and I spent the first 2 hours talking to each other, catching up on old stuff, discussing politics and what not. Upon arrival in Baguio, we felt the chill wind, but it was not as cold as we expected it to be. We were practically walking around without jackets on.
When we got to the hotel, we were allowed to check in at once, which was quite a surprise. Imagine early check in at 530 am. We fell asleep once we hit the beds. Got up and had late lunch at Oh My Gulay. The place is nice and quaint with a vegetarian menu, genuine art pieces on display, and a pretty good view of the city. We also bumped into my old college professor who seems to have lost all of his hair, but was nicer than he was before. After lunch, we spent some time in a Korean internet cafe to check stuff online. I also went online on IRC to check out the possiblity of meeting nice people in Baguio. When they showed me the picture of "the best looking" I left a comment saying "The standards of baguio people must be really low" and got irritated with the people, so I left the chatroom and gave Edil a quick tour and showed him the different places to get good bargains. We spent the time checking out prices, canvassing for the best ones.
That evening, we decided to go to a bar along Session Road called Rumours. The place was so-so. I felt like a celebrity when we walked in because all eyes were on me. Maybe because I didn't wear any gel and I had the F4 look. We ended up sitting in a cramped table beside a group of native-looking people. It was irritating because they were rudely staring at me, and they assumed I could not understand the local dialect. The were talking about me and Edil, making up stories as to how I ended up with Edil and stuff like that.
Now that I think about it, it was kind of funny because people were starting rumors in a bar called rumours.
Anyway, back to the topic... a friend of theirs came and the loud guy said to their friend, still in the local dialect, that I was their "find" for the night and that their new friend should "steal" me away from "my date".
That totally pissed me off, but I decided not to pick a fight with them. Edil and I just went out of the bar and walked around the city. I showed him the other gimmick places in the areawe ended up in the hotel bar and had a few more drinks, afterwhich we went to sleep already in preparation for Day 2
Day 2: The Unexpected
We were roused from a sound sleep by Edil's phone ringing. He answered and it was Rexie on the other end. She was telling Edil that they were in Baguio. Edil and I couldn't believe it and we were thinking that they were just playing a practical joke, to which Rexie replied "Hindi ako gigising ng 5 ng umaga para makipagbiruan. Bilisan mo at sobrang giniginaw na kami". Edil met them and arranged for a room for them. Luck was with us because the front desk found a way to squeeze us another room to accomodate Rexie, Vince (Rexie's son), Rich and Randy.
We went out to get breakfast and check out the markets. We did a lot of shopping, again. I found a laundry station right beside the hotel and got some stuff washed. I got my new jackets washed so I could use them that night also. We stayed in the hotel to rest first and waited for Rocky to arrive.
That night, we all went to a gay strip club to check for ourselves the story that a friend relayed... that these people were freaks. It was true, they were freaks. Hahahahahaha! We were planning to got to a girlie joint after that but it was too late already. We ended up sleeping after a few more drinks at the hotel bar.
Day 3: Sight Seeing and Shopping
We were planning to wake up early but ended up sleeping late because of drinking too much the night before. We were actually late for a lunch appointment where we had trouble looking for the place and descended and ascended 87 steep steps to get to the house. When we got there, there was a feast waiting for us.
We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping around. The bargains I got! That evening, we went to SM for dinner, while we were waiting for our reservations, we bumped into Rich's friend Joma. He expressed his interest in me. I was plain apathetic. Hahahaha.
It was a fun trip and I spent the evening packing.
Day 4: The trip home...
We woke up really early in the morning to do some last minute shopping. I got myself a large bag to hold in all my things, including all the stuff I bought.
Later that morning, we found out that Joma was really interested in me and was asking for my number. Ego boost!!!
We were late for our bus, it was a good thing it wasn't packed. We had to sit near the back of the bus already. Cramped legspace, horrid seats that reclined even when you didn't want to recline... A romantic couple in front who reclined their seats as if there were no people behind them... an extremely colicky baby... and to cap it all... PUKE LADY behind us.
The bus arrived an hour ahead of schedule. Since I asked my brother to pick me up at 6, he expected me at six. I spent an hour in Starbucks waiting. I rested a bit at home and went drinking later that night...
Thus ends a fun vacation to Baguio... i'm recharged, and so is my wardrobe :D
